TEENS IN ACTION YOUTH PROGRAM

All middle school through high school youth are invited, encouraged and welcomed to join the UCC New Smyrna Beach Teens in Action group.    

Under the direction of Youth Director, Pam Hopper, the youth group, called Teens In Action,  has grown from five youth to over 28 in the past five years.   What is the secret of her success?? Energy, a love of working with youth, organization and a way of reaching young people that makes them want to learn more about their religion and the religion of others, who want to contribute their time and ministries to the church and others, and who want to just be together and have fun!   Pam involves the teens in planning their varied activities that have included challenges and opportunities to help with church programs as well as participation in variety of projects.   Teens in Action has also captured the interest of other adults in the congregation who assist as chaperones, mentors, and who help support the financial needs of the group. 

Some of the activities in the Spring of 2007 have included:

• Selling hot dogs, salads, desserts to help raise money for the 2nd Allen D. Hall Mission Trip
• Planning the new Confirmation class
• Forming the youth group choir, and leading a contemporary worship service the Sunday after Easter
• Field trip to the Arctic Zone for ice skating
• Denny's Night Out...proceeds to the church
• Car Wash fund raiser
• Visits to other area churches the 2nd Sunday of each month
